Today, the online format is so far the only possible way to work with most psychologists and psychotherapists.⠀Not only during the quarantine period, but for some time now I have been working primarily online and as a psychologist/psychotherapist , and as a client myself, there are many explanations for this.⠀➕Accommodation and being on your own is now not a problem, not for me, not for my clients. We live in different cities and even continents, we continue to work during vacations and business trips.➕More opportunity to choose the time of the meeting.⠀➕Online consultations are often cheaper, since the psychologist does not need to pay office rent, spend time and money on travel.⠀ ❗However, you need to understand that if you have agreed on an online consultation, now you need to take care of some important aspects of organizing your space yourself.⠀✔️Choose a place where no one can disturb you. A separate, locked, soundproof room is always ideal. This could be your own apartment, when no one is home, or office space. You can rent a room, an apartment, a hotel room, or use a coworking space. A compromise may also be a car or an apartment when one of the family members is at home, but will not disturb you.⠀✔️If the meeting is in the nature of an informational conversation and you are not very worried that something from the conversation can be heard by a third-party passerby, then you can expand options for meeting places (food court, park in warm weather, etc.). In such a situation, you need to use headphones. Keep in mind that your loved ones' wireless headphones may connect to your device if you share a computer and that person is nearby. So it is better to give preference to wired headphones. ⠀✔️Whichever place you choose, take care of the convenience of your place. Perhaps someone should take care of a slightly open/closed window, a cozy blanket.⠀✔️A glass of water or your favorite drink wouldn’t hurt either.⠀✔️In some situations it’s worth taking paper and a pen.⠀✔️Be sure to take care of a pack of handkerchiefs. Often during the process of psychotherapy, people experience strong emotions and there should be an opportunity to blow their nose and wipe away tears.⠀✔️The device from which you get in touch should have stable, good access to the Internet and installed programs that your psychologist works with.⠀I really love the online format -consultations. It expands the possibilities of helping a person regardless of his location and allows the client to take care of his comfort as he sees it.
