Gestalt therapy - what is it about? About talking to yourself, about the ability to realize and express your feelings, about understanding your needs and meeting them, about contact with others, about what is happening to you now in this contact. About life. Remember how children in the sandbox begin to communicate. They approach each other with the question: “Let’s be friends?”, and then pre-contact and contacting, leaving contact. Every day they build a small chain of relationships, amazingly understandable in their simplicity. Every day they strengthen communication skills and fight for themselves, their boundaries and their place in EVERY relationship with EVERY person. They do everything absolutely correctly and naturally. Then we forget how to do it. I don’t know why we come up with clever words so that we can then write almost doctoral dissertations about disruptions in the contact cycle. The therapist is a child on the playground a little older than you. He knows something that you don't know yet. With it you can try everything. He may agree or he may refuse. He will listen to you and hear you. He will be worried and maybe even angry with you. He will be a person and will be woken up nearby. The therapist's office is a castle on the playground. At first you look closely, and then you are drawn there. This is similar to the territory that you will go through with your therapist and conquer more and more towers, collect your achievements, praise yourself and notice what you have done. Sometimes there will be real battles and fights, but when you are with a friend, it’s not so scary? People from outside - there will be a lot of them. They will shout all kinds of unpleasant things at you. They will devalue your difficult work of protecting the castle from strangers. They will try to break through your personal boundaries. They will call you crazy, some will stop communicating with you, because they will not like this NEW YOU at all. They will be terribly jealous of your happiness and your ability to live for yourself, but that will be their problem. Leave.Therapy is a very varied process. With your ups and downs, with searches and answers to questions, with recognizing yourself and reshaping your usual patterns. With surprise - and there will be a lot of surprise to yourself. Everything will be interesting. And no, Gestalt therapists will not tell you how to live. They won't give instructions. The therapist is your headlights in the dark forest. He will help you see all the holes, sticks, mountains of broken glass, a bridge over a stream and much, much more. With it, you will see more clearly and clearly how many forks and different possible options are ahead... But the steering wheel will still remain in your hands.
