Do you consider yourself the master of your own thoughts? Or are you closer to the point of view that thoughts come on their own? Oddly enough, people often cannot control their thoughts. And the point is not that it is impossible, but that it is unusual. We are designed in such a way that everything inside us is interconnected. Feelings, thoughts and actions (speech). This is how the trinity turns out. Feelings are our unconscious reactions to events and situations based on beliefs. It is clear that it (the reaction) may be different. That’s why we have, as they say, contradictory feelings. In addition, the speed of such reactions is very high, higher than that of the most powerful computer. Therefore, we are practically unable to control our feelings. You can only change your feelings by changing your beliefs. But we can control our thoughts. Much the same way we control our movements. You wouldn’t argue that someone else, without your knowledge, can make you move. Only you can make this decision yourself. Of course, managing thoughts requires certain volitional efforts and training. But we behave exactly the same way when we decide to take up fitness or some kind of sport. This means that we have such a skill, using will, to achieve results. The trouble is that people get used to thinking automatically. This is exactly the case when the brain becomes a master, not a servant. The very thoughts (unpleasant) that you scroll through in your head more than a dozen times confirm the presence of such automatism. Imagine the situation. A man comes up to you on the street, takes you by the hand, and leads you to God knows where. Meanwhile, you went about your important business. It is unlikely that you would allow something like this! This is unreal! Agree, it’s stupid to meekly follow someone in an unknown direction. However, when it comes to thoughts, this is exactly what happens. There is one point that is rarely paid attention to. Our thoughts can make us feel certain ways. Remember how you can convince yourself of something. And to convince means to create a belief that will be the basis for a certain feeling. Controlling and managing your thoughts helps shape your feelings. And, therefore, it affects your condition, mood and how you perceive the world around you. Think about it, it might actually be more useful to control your thoughts than to feel bad when you don’t do it. Practitioner psychologist Anton Chernykh.
