I'm afraid to start, I'm afraid to go learn a new activity and work in a new place. What if nothing works out? What if I make a mistake? What will they think? I want to discuss with you the topic of fear. What is fear? Why does it occur? How to deal with the emotion of fear and how can you help yourself with it? How to turn fear into a resource? Sometimes people learn a new profession, but never dare to start because of fear. Fear arises in a situation of danger, a real or imaginary threat. It is normal to be afraid of the unfamiliar and unknown, new, incomprehensible, to be afraid of uncertainty. Where we are familiar is not scary. This helped us survive. Certain areas of the brain are responsible for our “just in case” anxiety. If you’re afraid to change jobs, move, or take up yoga, know that it’s partly instinct. Fear also appears as a result of acquired experience - anxious parents, one’s own bad experiences, lack of support from loved ones - all this can leave an imprint on a person. When a person is afraid to start something new, two aspirations collide within him in different directions (internal conflict): on the one hand, the desire for interesting activities, for self-realization. DESIRE on the other hand is the desire FROM condemnation/criticism, from failure, from change and novelty. FEAR We often draw “scary” pictures in our imagination - how events will develop - an unfavorable outcome. Everyone has their own worst outcome. An exercise to explore your fears. Ask yourself the following questions:1. What's the worst thing that can happen? Everything I'm afraid of, in a specific list. Write down the situations that scare you or that you avoid. Rank them from most frightening to least frightening in order of fear. Rate how realistic this is? The emotion of fear has 2 main functions: to warn of danger, to prepare for a reaction to this danger.2. If it happens, how will I resolve the situation?3. What is the most desirable thing that can happen? If I try and take a risk? What other options are there for the development of events? With fear, we concentrate on the unfavorable, dangerous development of events, the one we don’t want. But other options for the development of events are also possible - more pleasant or useful. In transactional analysis, there are 2 scenarios/ways of thinking and reacting to bad events and failures: - winner. When a person prepares to do something, he has a clear idea of what he will do if things go wrong. Starts to take effect. Active coping, overcoming. Reaction to mistakes: okay, I made a mistake, it’s annoying, sad, but next time I’ll do it differently. A loser who knows how to SUPPORT HIMSELF. He doesn’t know what he will do when it gets bad, he doesn’t think about it. But he talks a lot about what he will do when he achieves the desired result. A lot of numbing fear. Anxiety, suppression of oneself and one’s activity. Reaction to mistakes: if I had done it differently, it would have been different. Fantasizes a lot about the past. Energy drops. SHAMES AND RECOGNIZES YOURSELF To cope with fears more easily, it is important to be aware of the way you think and its impact on you. Sign up for a consultation via telegram
