Original text

Who is interested in you reading quickly? Answer: the one who writes texts for you. The authors of newspapers and magazines are trying their best to make reading easier for their readers. It's their money. The more accessible and interesting they write, the more they will sell. Consider a newspaper that is read by millions, “Komsomolskaya Pravda”: • The width of the newspaper column is 4 centimeters. • A line contains only 2-3 words or 20 letters. Why exactly so much? Because it is convenient for most people to read. Publishers tailor the text to the reader. Previously, we did not have the ability to change the text we read (there were no computers). Not a single textbook on speed reading says that you can adapt the text to suit yourself. Why not? As the saying goes: “If the mountain does not come to Magomed, then Magomed goes to the mountain.” Experiment: 1) Paste the text you want to read into the Word editor. 2) Change the line length until it becomes comfortable to read. 3) Experiment with font size, hyphenation, and text alignment. Note: If you find it difficult to do this in Word, look through books, newspapers and magazines of different formats. Find a comfortable one. Find out what number of letters per line is most comfortable for you to read. So, if you read a lot from a monitor screen, you can already increase your reading speed. Just change the length of the line. Conclusions: 1) Find out at what number of letters in a line you read the fastest. 2) Tailor the text to suit you.
