HOW TO CHOOSE A SPECIALIST? Perhaps, each of us has emotional and psychological difficulties that are sometimes difficult to master on our own. In such cases, it is necessary to seek help. And here the question arises: “Which specialist should I go to and how to choose him?” When choosing, it is important to understand the differences between one or another specialist. There are a lot of directions in psychology and each specialist will have his own tools in working with a person, but the main qualifications when working with the psyche will be the following: A PSYCHOLOGIST works with human behavior, emotions, helps people deal with problems of self-esteem, self-realization, interaction with others, difficulties in personal life, child-parent relationships, search for the meaning of life, etc. A CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST specializes in the diagnosis and prevention of mental disorders and illnesses, helps the psychiatrist in clarifying medical diagnoses. A PSYCHOTHERAPIST is a doctor who treats mild to moderate mental disorders (for example, anxiety-depressive disorders, psychosomatics) and provides psychotherapeutic assistance. A PSYCHIATRIST is a doctor who deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of severe mental illnesses (for example, schizophrenia, mental retardation, personality disorders, etc.). Also, when choosing any specialist, it is important to take into account his qualifications and work experience. Do not hesitate to ask the specialist for educational documents. A professional, competent person will always treat your request with understanding. The main criterion for selection by education will not be a 3-month course, but the presence of a university diploma. Although, of course, one cannot fail to mention that the presence of a diploma does not indicate real education . It happens! However, the chance that you will come across a competent specialist is higher if you have a “higher document…”. Still, they don’t just hand it out in decent universities, I checked it personally! Choose a specialist based on your emotional response. Because if that same “chemistry” happens between you, you will be able to trust and your interaction with him will be more effective. So, let’s summarize! 1) If you feel bad and you don’t know how to cope with it, ask for help. Find a specialist online or in person in your region. 2) First, you can contact a psychologist. He will help you decide on the right direction and, if necessary, refer you to another specialist.3) Take an interest in the specialist’s education to make sure of his qualifications.4) Trust your inner feeling when choosing a specialist, as it will tell you who you need.
