Getting ready for a planned meeting in the morning, I heard my husband in the kitchen telling his daughter in an edifying tone: “When I eat, I am deaf and dumb.” The daughter immediately ran out of the kitchen to me and asked: “Mom, but dad says that when I eat, I am deaf and dumb. You said that you can talk at the table!” Yes, my daughter and I have already discussed this “truth” that she brought from kindergarten. As a child, I also often heard these words in kindergarten and in other situations. What's behind them? Message: “DON'T TALK. DO NOT LISTEN". In fact, these prohibitions block the ability to contact. If I cannot hear the other, if I am forbidden to speak to him, then how can I understand and become closer? When parents talk to their children, very often they voice prohibitions received from their own parents. They pass these prohibitions on to their children. And this is how the family scenario is formed. Once I was doing household chores, my daughter told me something: “I think that...”. And then it clearly flashed through my head: “I thought the turkey was in the soup!” I realized another prohibition that I could pass on to my children: “DON’T THINK.” Or: “ACT WITHOUT REFLECTING.” What happens if you always act without thinking? You can miss a number of important factors, take the wrong step, make the wrong decision.” Adults like to give another unhelpful message to their children: “DO NOT BE INTERESTED. Just informing when a child shows keen interest and curiosity in something: “Curious Varvara’s nose was torn off at the market.” During my school years, I encountered a ban on joy. Often, struggling with our ability to have fun and laugh, which desperately did not want to die and held on until our last breath, teachers said: “Laughter for no reason is a sign of a fool!” I don’t know who came up with such “wisdom”, but I think that it was not a very happy person. People devalue qualities that they themselves have lost. Probably because if you think you've lost a fortune, you'll feel miserable. And if you say that you have lost some unnecessary little thing that you can’t buy anything with, it only burdens your wallet, then the person is easily consoled and does not notice the loss. Do you, dear readers, remember any prohibition messages??
