It is not uncommon for a person to quickly become disillusioned with the therapy he receives. However, this is a reason to completely leave the given path. Let’s consider some reasons why therapy may seem ineffective. The simplest and most commonplace is that a specialist was not suitable for the person, or this specialist does not have the qualifications suitable for providing these services (or does not have any at all). ). Having become disappointed in one psychologist, a person transfers this feeling to the entire area as a whole. We have already said that it is not always possible to find “your” specialist, even among highly qualified representatives of the profession, so do not despair, you just need to continue the search. A person thinks that therapy in one or two sessions will solve all his problems and heal childhood traumas . Of course, it is simply impossible to restructure the thinking that has been leading for a couple of decades in a new way in just a few meetings with a psychologist. Many people with serious psychological trauma spend their entire lives in therapy, and this is normal practice. An unwillingness to take responsibility for one’s life also greatly slows down or makes therapy impossible. A normal psychologist will never tell a person how to live this life, will not give advice and will not provide any ready-made solutions to the problem. A person makes all decisions in his life himself. A person is not ready to change the reality that exists now, and secondary benefits for him “outweigh” possible changes. Only he doesn’t want to admit it and demands from therapy that everything change without changes or any bodily movements. The desire for a quick and immediately lasting result is, most often, an inflated expectation. And in general, work on oneself often stops immediately after leaving the psychologist’s office. To qualitatively change your life, you need a fairly long period of time, during which there will be both successes and failures. This is normal. And of course, the reason that therapy does not work may be the person’s confidence that he, therefore, knows everything without “all these charlatan psychologists who charge money for shaking the air.” In this case, it is better not to start it at all and not waste anyone’s time. This, by the way, is a very common case when people come to “test” a specialist for professional suitability, and not to work on themselves. As can be seen from this list, there can be quite a lot of reasons, however, this is not the end of the world. If a person feels that he needs help and support, he has embarked on the path of self-development and self-improvement, then it will not be difficult for him to analyze what is happening and continue his path more effectively.
